Johan Bark (S)

Johan Bark is a performer, musician, and director in training, from Västerås, Sweden.

He is currently based in London, UK, where he is studying a BA (Hons) in European Theatre Arts at Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance.

Johan first worked for Awake Projects in 2013 as part of the production team for the festival event Awake Me UP 2013, where he had the role of coordinator. He also performed in the show, as well as coordinating the documentation of the process, and the live stream filming of the show.

Johan followed Awake Projects to the UK in the summer of 2013 where he participated in the 2013 Outreach Project at the North Wall Arts Centre, Oxford,  led by Christopher Sivertsen and Lucy Maycock.

Johan performed as a member of the Awake LOVE Orchestra at the 2013 Edinburgh Festival Fringe,  where he alos operated the lights and assisted the performance AWAKE. Both production received great acclaim.

In 2014 Johan was part of that year’s edition of Awake Me UP, both as a member of the production team, and a performer on stage. He has continually assisted on Awake Youth projects in Swedish Primary and Secondary schools, as well as in Youth Centres, as part of Awake Projects.

Johan’s experience in theatre involves working with Robert Wilson (US) at the Watermill Center, Ariane Mnocuhkine (FRA) during the Ecole Nomade in Oxford (2015) and the Iron Shoes Theatre Company (UK) during the 2014 Outreach Project at the North Wall Arts Centre. He has also worked for Västerås Kulturskola – The Västerås Culture School.

Johan has also trained for companies and directors such as Song of the Goat Theatre (PL), Gardzienice (PL), John Britton (UK), Frantic Assembly (UK) and OBRA Theatre Company (FRA).

Johan plays guitar, bass, keyboards, percussion, harmonica, as well as basic violin and saxophone. He is a singer, and have experience in composing.

Johan is an experienced filmmaker and editor, and have created and/or edited several of Awake Project’s promotional videos.
